Capsule Collection of Sustainable Makeup

Capsule Collection of Sustainable Makeup

There seems to be an overwhelming amount of beauty products that are released constantly these days. But, let's be honest we don’t need every makeup launch under the sun, it is better to rely on a small selection of products that you know and can trust to perform.

With the sustainable beauty movement spreading and a growing focus on plastic-free products, we thought we’d offer recommendations to create your perfect capsule collection of makeup for Spring that is sustainable and dependable. The point is to streamline your makeup stash so it contains a curated, yet versatile range of products that don’t compromise the planet.

Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation

For your base, we recommend the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation. This is a luxury foundation in every sense of the word. Not only is the formulation luxurious with no synthetic ingredients, but the durable, metal compact means it comes beautifully packaged as well. Rather than owning a different foundation for every coverage option, opt for this foundation because the coverage is customisable, allowing you to tailor this product to your preferences/needs. Either apply a sheer layer for minimal coverage to even out your skin tone, or build it up for a medium-full coverage look. With a natural-matte finish, you won’t have to worry about your base moving around in the warmer seasons. If you want to minimize the number of products in your makeup bag even further, this foundation can be worn as a concealer too, due to the high coverage, creamy formula. This foundation, like the majority of products from Kjaer Weis, is plastic-free and refillable - how great is that?!

ZAO Makeup Mineral Cooked Powder

Now we are rolling into the warmer months, a bronzer is a must-have for adding a bit of colour to our complexions. We love the Mineral Cooked Powder from ZAO Makeup because the baked formula blends into the skin seamlessly and has four shade options available. A recent release in this range is the shade ‘347 - Natural Glow’ which has arrived on our shelves just in time for Spring. This shade is a matte terracotta to add warmth for all skin tones - perfect to give a sunkissed look. A great thing about the Mineral Cooked Powders from ZAO Makeup is the fact that they are packaged in a bamboo compact and are refillable too. You can either purchase the full-size product and refill the compact once you’ve finished the product, or simply purchase the refill and place it into an empty palette available from ZAO Makeup. This not only minimises waste but is more cost-effective for you too. This bronzer can also be applied to the eyes to add a hint of shadow and naturally define the eyes for a more everyday look. ZAO Makeup is organic, natural and cruelty-free.

Sappho Eyeshadows

For eyeshadow, rather than purchasing a palette where you might not use every shade, you can minimise wasted product by opting for individual shadows to create your own bespoke palette. This means you can select shades you know you will love and use. Sappho offers a range of shades (we think their shimmer shades will look beautiful during this season) that have deep pigmentation and a smooth feel that blend with ease. You can either slot these in the empty Double Eyeshadow Compact or the larger Square Compact that Sappho has available. Their empty palettes are made from 100% cardboard and are durable, yet lightweight. The eyeshadow formula from Sappho is vegan, organic and comes in 100% recyclable packaging.

ZAO Makeup Volume & Sheathing Mascara

A recent launch from ZAO Makeup is their refillable mascaras - and we can’t get enough! Gone are the days of green beauty mascaras not holding up against mainstream alternatives. The Volume & Sheathing Mascara has a pigmented formula that gives the lashes intense volume without clumps. It is formulated without synthetic ingredients, and instead contains high-quality, natural ingredients that are safe for even the most sensitive of eyes. Packaged in bamboo casing with a refillable inner tube to reduce waste. This mascara is certified by ECOCERT and contains 100% natural ingredients with 20% organic ingredients.

Gressa Lip Boost

We selected the Lip Boost from Gressa for your Spring capsule collection because of the versatile formula. They offer the moisture of a balm, the pigment of a lipstick whilst giving your lips the glow of a lip gloss. You can either apply it with a lip brush for full pigment or sheer it out with your fingers for a subtle layer of colour. You could even apply this as a cream blush to add a tint to your cheeks, the sheen will help give your skin a fresh, glowy look. For an everyday shade, we would recommend the shade ‘Bare’; a nude that offers a your lips but better shade that will go with every makeup look, or ‘Jolie’; a bright coral that I think is perfect for Spring time. The Lip Boosts from Gressa come packaged in a recyclable glass jar with an aluminium lid and are created using the cleanest, purest ingredients.

A capsule collection of sustainable makeup is not only better for the environment but has the bonus of making getting ready in the morning that little bit easier too. By having a smaller range of products that consist of your go-to look, it means you’ll save time getting ready because you know exactly what is in your makeup bag. When we cut out the clutter in our makeup bags, we get the chance to create a full-proof, signature look with products we know we can rely on every day (and who doesn’t want an extra 10 minutes in bed in the morning?!). We recommend making seasonal switches to your capsule collection to suit the weather and seasonal colour changes.

Do have refillable mascara in brown as black mascara is too harsh for my fair skin?
