How To Wear: A Sculpted Cheekbone

How To Wear: A Sculpted Cheekbone

Since Kim Kardashian started the contouring trend, almost ALL makeup brands have brought out a product to make contouring and highlighting easy to do at home. Here are our top tips for creating the perfect sculpted cheekbone.

1.

Apply your foundation and concealer first, then go over with your contouring and highlighting products. This will ensure you have an even canvas before you start bringing dimension back into the face.

2.

mineral-cooked-powder-chocolateThere are a couple of options you could use for a natural contour. You could use a matte pressed powder product such as ZAO Makeup Mineral Cooked Powder in 344 ChocolateThis shade would be suitable for medium olive skin tones but it would be too harsh on light skin. As this shade is matte, it creates the perfect natural shadow in the hollows of the cheeks to effectively give the illusion of higher cheekbones. Just go sparingly and build up the colour slowly with a small angled brush, the last thing you want is two brown stripes across your face!

3.

This option is easy to apply, simply swipe the colour directly from the stick into the hollows of the cheekbones, and with a stippling motion, blend into the skin. Ensure you are only blending the colour into the hollow of the cheekbones and not spreading it too far down your jaw, or too high onto the cheeks. This will ensure the colour stays where it needs to be and  gives a soft shadow in the right place rather than giving you an all over brown cheek!

4.

zap-makeup-light-touch-illuminating-complexionAs for highlighting, a matte colour would look the most natural for daytime. The ZAO Makeup Light Touch Illuminating Complexion is able to bring the cheekbones forward and make them appear more prominent without giving away any telltale signs you are wearing makeup! See our blog post here on how to use this product in the most effective way. It works perfectly for daytime and for creating that 'no makeup, makeup' look due to its subtle finish. Just remember not to use it under the eyes or as a concealer as it does contain some light reflecting pigments that may make dark circles and blemishes more obvious if applied over them.

5.
